Finding extra space in your bathroom requires thinking outside of the normal solutions. This is a typical Master bathroom remodel in a Colonial 2 story house located in Chesterfield Mo.
The first thing I ask my team is " What if we could give the client everything she wants?" We start with interview questions. What is in your perfect bathroom. Her reply follows.
We design Kitchens and Bathrooms that are life changing.

#Ceilings are perhaps the most overlooked spaces in design. But when they are handled correctly mot only do they add to the design of the space but they enhance it.
This #dining room had one black crystal chandelier, blue and yellow plaid drapes and a queen Anne Dining set. The bay window looked like an add on and felt separated from the room. Switching to 2 chandeliers instead of one meant we could place furniture deeper into the room.
The new owners wanted a room that felt #European but not stuffy. We started with the ceiling. The cranberry iron gate faux finish pulls its color up from the rug on the floor. By pulling the pattern into the bay window it now feels like its part of the space. Next a mix of antique and new furniture. and accessories.
Last we created simple but dramatic draperies to pull the look together.

Are you hosting the monthly book club? Looking for ideas to spark conversation and impress your friends? Here are some tips to help get your creative juices flowing.
Number 1) Choose a theme
The title of the book can make a great theme (The French pastry murder) to build your table scape around.
Number 2) Start with what you have.
This collection of French mimes were in my curio cabinet. They look great on the table .
Number 3) Create conversation by putting place cards at each place setting.
Write the name of characters in the book on the place cards. Instruct your guest that they will get to tell what happened to their character in the story.
Number 3) Keep food simple.
I like to serve finger sandwiches or sliders. These are cut with a sandwich cutter purchased at Wal-Mart. I use it for my grand kids lunches. Fruit and cheese are always a great choice. No one wants to worry if they have spinach in their teeth so stay from salads.
Number 4) Get out the good china.
What are you saving it for the next wife? She won't like it Mix and match china pieces.
Number 6) Make custom napkins .
Yes I said that. These are made from 2 squares of fabric sewed together turned inside out and folded into the Lily pattern. I think they look like Fleur de Lis. I will show you how in a future post.
Number 7) Use books as risers to create different heights on the table.
Wrap the books in gift wrap to co ordinate with the table
Number 8) Serve a signature drink.
Like French wine or Lavender Lemonade.

There are many homes with Jack and jill bathrooms that share a shower tub and toilet area. In the past the builder would order 2 matching vanities , sinks, faucets etc. But today as Interior designers we prefer to treat each vanity space individually. This allows each of the bathrooms and their bedrooms to have unique personalities. One simple trick is to simply order different cabinet finishes, keeping the lighting the same from room to room.
Todays cabinets offer some amazing options. The one on the left is used by a teenage girl who wanted lots of room for make up. She needed a blow dryer but Mom wanted her vanity kept clean. So the outlet is inside the drawer where she stores the hair dryer. She has pull out shelves behind the doors for all her cleansers and cosmetics.
On the left is the son's Bedroom /Bath. He's older headed to college and likes to leave his dirty laundry all over. Mom had a pull out laundry bag put in behind the door on the far right. He goes thru a lot of towels so she wanted him to have lots of shelves. Identical cabinet boxes with towers, but very different inside. So far they have kept them clean. Cross your fingers it has only been a month.
